Enervent renewed the moderately priced automation for its air ventilation units

In the beginning of June, Enervent introduced a new, easy-to-use, and moderately priced control for its ventilation units. The control is used and adjusted via the stylish and intuitive eWind control panel.

The new eWind automation is available for all Enervent ventilation units, apart from the biggest unit Pallas .

Developed by Enervent, the eWind control is based on the algorithm of the MD control, which was designed for more demanding management of indoor climate. This makes it an extremely versatile solution which can control and adjust the indoor climate in a number of ways. Humidity boosting is a built-in feature. The automation also controls heating and cooling solutions of the Enervent air ventilation systems, such as fluid-based heating and cooling coils of the ground circuit.

The Enervent eWind automation can also be connected to open building automation. The system can be equipped with KNX and Modbus RTU bus control as an option.

Continuous development process of control

eWind is certainly familiar to those acquainted with the Enervent eAir control panel, based on the MD automation. Along with the development of control systems, Enervent was able to introduce all essential features of the MD system in its ventilation units at a reasonable price.

“The more detailed the management of the indoor climate via the ventilation unit that is desired, the more complicated the control system will be. The new features are always first introduced in the more demanding indoor climate-management solutions. From there, they gradually become more common,” says Sales Manager Teemu Kuusinen, promising that the development of automation solutions at Enervent is a continuous process.

“The biggest leaps in the development of air ventilation solutions will be taken in the field of control,” Kuusinen continues. “The actual components of air ventilation units have remained unchanged for decades by now. Development of the control defines how we can use them to adjust and maintain the indoor climate.”

The diversified features do not provide much pleasure if the residents are not able to or cannot use them. This is why we have strongly invested in the intuitiveness and ease of use of the eWind panel.

The eWind control also monitors safety of the home. The sensors control the humidity level of the indoor air, for example, and automatically increase the ventilation as necessary.

Quick to install and affordable to use

Thanks to the factory-installed and pre-set circuit board, the Enervent ventilation units equipped with the new eWind control are quick and easy to install. The only required task at the installation site is the fine adjustment specific to the house/apartment. The new  eWind control also makes the Enervent ventilation solutions really affordable for the customer.

The new Enervent Pinion is a near-silent ventilation unit for small spaces

The small Enervent Pinion is best suited for apartments in blocks of flats and terraced houses, and for small detached houses. It is also an excellent solution for other building and renovation projects, where the ventilation of small spaces is required, using separate air ventilation units. The machine operates at the highest energy-efficiency and lowest sound level when the air flow is 67 l/s, at the maximum.

Enervent Pinion is priced to offer a good indoor climate, even in large projects in a cost efficient way.

All Enervent ventilation units belong to energy class A

From January 2016, the ventilation devices must be equipped with an energy label. The marking is already found on other electrically driven domestic appliances and heat pumps, for example. All Enervent ventilation units belong to energy class A.
The energy labelling obligation of the ventilation units is based on the energy labelling directive and the Commission regulation (EU) N:o 1254/2014. The regulation confirms the energy labelling requirements for ventilation units designed to be used in residential buildings. The classification varies from the lowest G category to the highest A.

At the same time as the energy labelling obligation, the Commission regulation (EU) N:o 1253/2014, with regard to ecodesign requirements for ventilation units, comes into force. The common energy-efficiency requirements for fans were confirmed in the Commission regulation (EU) N:o 327/2011.

Clear information on energy efficiency

The energy label of the device provides comparable information to the consumer for making a decision on a purchase. The consumer can detect at a glance, if the consumption of electricity for the device is low or if it is higher than the average level marked red.

In addition to the actual energy class, a significant amount of important information, tested in a uniform way, must be provided for the consumer. The consumer should be able to trust that the properties have been tested and that they are indicated in a clear and uniform way for each device manufacturer, whether the question is about the control type of the air conditioner, the type or efficiency of the heat recovery system, the input power with the maximum air flow, the nominal electric power or the sound power level.

The sound power level plays a significant role in terms of a good room microclimate and comfort.

At its best in a cold environment

The energy efficiency of a ventilation unit is indicated in the energy label for the middlemost climate zone in the European union. In energy labels of air source heat pumps and room air conditioners, for example, the energy class is indicated for three climate zones.
Naturally, the Enervent ventilation units have been developed to operate with as high energy-efficiency as possible in the Nordic climate. Thus, in the coldest climate zone, the energy class for all Enervent ventilation unit would be A+.

The energy used by the ventilation units creates a significant share of the total energy requirement of the households within the European union. The Commission has paid attention to the high energy consumption of many ventilation units.
Thanks to the directive, the energy consumption in dwelling is expected to fall by 45% within the European union by 2025.

Ensto Enervent Oy acquires Norwegian Noram Produkter AS

Ensto Enervent Oy has acquired the entire share capital of the Norwegian company Noram Produkter AS, a distributor of ventilation products. The acquisition is perfectly in line with Ensto Enervent’s growth strategy of focusing on fresh air, energy efficiency, health and comfort.

Noram Produkter AS has been a long-term partner and the sole Norwegian distributor for Enervent’s products sold under the brand name Exvent.

Both companies see opportunities in deeper co-operation. “Norway is a positively developing market where quality and energy efficiency are highly appreciated by customers. This acquisition, which is aligned within Ensto Enervent’s growth strategy, gives an excellent foothold for us to expand our already growing business in Norway. I am also confident that the increased focus and direct access to the manufacturer’s R&D and marketing planning will support Noram,” says Jukka Riekkinen, Managing Director of Ensto Enervent Oy.

The transaction was completed on the 30th of September 2015.

Decisions related to the company’s future name, potential offering extensions, and organization will be announced later this year. In the meantime, business will continue as usual and personnel will continue in their duties.

Ensto Enervent Oy in brief

Ensto Enervent Oy has manufactured ventilation units for over 30 years. All manufacturing is done in Porvoo, Finland. Controlling the indoor climate as a whole has been Ensto Enervent’s mission from the start: priorities are in health and comfort in addition to fresh air and energy efficiency. Ensto Enervent employs ~70 persons and has been a part of Ensto Group since 2009.

Noram Produkter AS in brief

Noram Produkter AS is a Bärum, near Oslo, based distributor of ventilation products in Norway. It has personnel of 5 and a turnover of 30 MNOK. Noram Produkter AS has been sole distributor for Enervent since 2003.

An addition to Enervent’s horizontal LTR product family developed for renovation of single-family houses

The Enervent LTR product family now includes solutions for the ventilation renovation needs of houses of all sizes. The newest member of the LTR product range is intended for houses more than 200 square meters in size.

The Enervent LTR-4 is an air handling unit equipped with a rotating heat exchanger and developed for supply air flows of 145 l/s. It is intended for houses 100–200 m² in size. This unit complements the LTR product family and is positioned between the current LTR-3 and LTR-6 models. Now this product family contains units for houses of all sizes, up to 300 m².

– This is precisely the size category where people have wished for a specific air handling unit that has been missing from the marketplace, Sales Manager Teemu Kuusinen says. – There is increasing need for one as a great number of energy renovations are made in this size category.

Horizontal air handling units are especially suitable for renovation sites where it is difficult to find space for vertically mounted air handling units. A horizontal model can be installed in a ceiling, for instance. Units of the LTR range have particularly efficient urethane insulation, so they can be installed in a cold space with extra insulation.

The Enervent LTR air handling units are extremely energy-efficient and meet the ecoDesign 2016 requirements. They belong to ecoDesign energy-efficiency category A+ in the cold climate zone and energy-efficiency category A in the average climate zone.

The extensive range includes especially energy-efficient heat pump devices equipped with special functions but also models designed for basic ventilation. At its most versatile, this involves a complete indoor climate solution that includes heating, cooling and dehumidification of indoor air.

The Enervent LTR air handling units are controlled with Ensto Enervent’s own intelligent eAir automation with touchscreen.

The devices have been specifically developed for renovation projects so their price/performance ratio has been optimized.
